About the book
Written by Dr. Joseph Murphy, renowned proponent of the New Thought movement, schooled in different faiths, the book is amongst the earliest to popularize, propagate or better to say, to mark the Renaissance of positive affirmations in modern self-help literature.
The power of your subconscious mind is a guide that helps people transform their thinking, habits, beliefs and so, their lives by training the subconscious mind in the right direction.
Dr. Murphy’s lifelong quest for knowledge and new ideas, led him to drift through various countries, subjects, faiths and professions. Sold over multimillion copies worldwide, the book has helped millions of people in living the life of their dreams by realizing the hidden potential of the subconscious mind.
Structure and Element of the book
In the words of Dr. Murphy, the reason to write the book is “to explain great fundamental truths of mind in the simplest language”.
The ideas, techniques and solutions given in the book claim to open the doors of health, love, happiness, and success for all. Each of the 20 chapters is dedicated to a different sphere of struggle in life, it could be finding a dream job or curing a life-threatening disease. The secret is to train the subconscious mind which has proved to be effective in all cases.
The simple techniques and practice of visualization, repetition and faith in the gift of infinite intelligence, infinite riches, infinite healing, and boundless love, etc., given in the book can make our dreams come true.
References of eminent scientists, psychologists, philosophers, faiths and real-life experiences of people who believe in the great power of the subconscious mind are testaments to the claims made by Dr. Murphy.
Written in a simple and easily comprehensible language, one may find it difficult to believe that the ‘secret to lead a successful life lies in here’. But the same has proven to be an advantage in making the book a global success.
Why you should read the book?
The question is “Will you believe if I say it works?” A rational person would weigh each word on the scale of logic before acting on it. Even if you have a lingering disbelief that no such secret exists, the book will hypnotize you into believing that it can happen.
Far from a cheap charm, the book is a classic in culturing the habit of saying yes to positivity.
What is missing from the book?
Even though the book claims that if you are looking for ways to get rid of the misery in life, this book acts as a talisman for it. It is impossible to achieve a goal without putting some concrete effort, hard work, struggle and facing failures. Ironically, lack of rational argument behind all will happen on its own is the only loose end in the book.
The reason I would recommend this book is that, it says you should think and believe that ‘the best will happen to you in life’ along with a word of caution for thinking otherwise for others. WHY NOT believe in something good? Why not think and hope to be happy, rich, and successful? It is our mind that governs everything we do, so why not train it to approach things in the best way possible? So, I suggest to read the book and observe the changes yourself. Have faith, work hard, and believe that things will only get better.
“Do not let others do your thinking for you. Choose your own thoughts and make your own decisions.”
